William Knuttel Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

Thanks to the incredible 2014 vintage, star winemaker Bill Knuttel had plenty of gorgeous grapes to pick from the prestigious vineyards of Sonoma. He started by whole-cluster pressing the grapes to keep flavors elegant and pure. To add richness and length, he fermented and aged half the ‘juice’ in new French oak barrels for six months. This Chardonnay is all about balance. Look for aromas of lemon curd and tropical fruit; the palate is rounded and creamy, showcasing white peach notes along with traces of mineral, nutmeg and vanilla pod drawn out on the long finish. Pure class – and ideal served with simply roasted poultry or butter-poached lobster.
