Cellar Spotlight: Aleah S. from Oak Brook, IL

Today, we’re shining a light on the manager of our wine store in Oak Brook, IL, Aleah S! She’s talking about how she got started with The Wine Cellar Group and why she loves it, plus sharing some tips on learning about wine.

How did you get started at The Wine Cellar Group?
Around the winter of 2015, I was considering a change from my job at the time. Eric, the Manager of Joliet’s Wine Cellar Outlet, suggested I come to his wine shop in Joliet, Illinois and check it out. After a few months, I finally did, and have been a part of the WCG ever since!

What is your favorite part about working for The Wine Cellar Group?
Every day is a new learning experience! From talking with customers to learning about new wines, there’s always something going on. I’ve also had the chance to create great relationships with other WCG wine store locations and team members!

What has been your favorite event that we’ve hosted/been a part of?
The Habitat for Humanity Women’s Outreach with Kelly, WCG’s Marketing Manager, was great. We learned a lot about HfH, and it was really empowering to see what an impact groups like that can have on people around the world.

Do you have any tips for people who are just starting to explore wine?
Don’t necessarily listen to other people’s opinions on what you should like or should be drinking. Try a little bit of everything, and drink the type of wine you personally like! It doesn’t matter where it’s from or how much it costs; if you enjoy it, then drink it!

What is your favorite varietal?
Tempranillo and Malbec are my favorite everyday go-to wines!

Thank you, Aleah! We appreciate all you do for The Wine Cellar Group and our Oak Brook, IL location! Visit our Oak Brook store or join our email list for more info on our stores, wine sampling events and deals!
