Shiraz Réserve de la souche noire

Great expression of Australian Shiraz! Incredible depth on the nose, including: blackberry, blueberry, cocoa, cracked pepper, clay, and subtle hints of toasted nuts.
On the palate: dark chocolate covered black fruits shine through the low acidity. Followed by a black pepper spice, and finishes with grippy tannins begging for another sip.
I paired this with a pepper crusted ribeye to experience a classic pairing. The cracked pepper flavor became magically muted and, instead of becoming overwhelming, somehow highlighted even more blackberry flavor, which complimented the fat from the ribeye amazingly and almost had me convinced I was eating a tender pork chop instead of beef.
Even without the food pairing, I knew after my first taste that I’d be wanting another bottle (especially at $20!!!)
