How To Remove Labels From Wine Bottles

How to Get Labels Off Wine Bottles

We’re sharing an easy tutorial on how to remove wine bottle labels, so you can get creative with your bottle DIY project!

Craft projects are a great way to reuse wine corks and bottles. Maybe you’ve been saving empty bottles from your favorite wines, but need to get the adhesive labels off before you can reuse them.

We got the inspiration for this project from a friend who refused to buy wine with fancy labels. She has plenty of great quotes about wine, like this relevant one: “I like the wine not the label.” To honor our friend, we are going to be sharing this technique for removing labels from glass bottles. Removing the label from a wine bottle is one of the first steps to starting a DIY wine craft project. Here is an easy way to do it!

Instructions

Pour hot water into a large bowl and fill the wine bottles with hot water. Place the wine bottles into the bowl and make sure the label is completely submerged in the water.

Soak for 20 minutes or until the label looks wet and is starting to peel off.

Peel the label off slowly. If it does not peel off completely, place it back in the water to soak longer or scrub off with label with a sponge. You can also use adhesive remover here if you’re having trouble getting the label to come off completely.
