Pillastro Primitivo
Primitivo, a cousin of California’s fruit-packed Zinfandel, is the godfather of southern Italian grapes. It’s dark, rich and persuasively charming—and the Cantine Due Palme team excels at drawing out those qualities, insisting that all Pillastro’s grapes be harvested from very old (flavor-boosting) vines. Here’s Gilbert & Gaillard on what to expect in the glass: “Pleasant nose combining red berry fruit...smoky and spicy touches. Impressive, full-flavored palate.”

We have been "consuming" & enjoying this Primitivo for over a decade. In our minds this is the standard measure of Italian Primitivo's. Understanding that the grape is what the US calls Zinfandel, the Pillastro is very much like a CA Old Vine Zin - robust and fruit forward. It never disappoints.

Light, fruity… very drinkable. Very nice!
The price was right. At that price I'd buy a lot more.
Have only tried 2 of the wines, but both were very good. This is really an exceptional value...and it helps me find wines worthy of a trip back!
Smooth and easy to drink

It was a bit sweeter than others I've tried, but I liked it!
